Peat Soil Management
Bumitama has made a clear commitment to exclude any peat from new plantation developments, to restore peatland where possible and apply best management practice in existing plantings (refer to RSPO Manuals On Best Management Practices For Peat
). Peatland is defined as soil containing greater than 65% organic matter with depth of more than 50cm.
We will ensure that our activities do not lead to any long-term impacts on surface and ground water quality and availibility. We will take all reasonable measures to mitigate impacts during site development activities and will collaborate with local water users in our plantations and mills to monitor water quality and assist them to address concerns collectively.
